So here it is! Post number one! I’m so excited to start this blog! There are a lot of things that we will be talking about but I’m just going to start this first post by letting y’all know what I’d like to achieve here. I want people to know that cooking and/or baking isn’t something that anyone should be afraid of. I firmly believe that anyone who puts their mind to it, can cook a delicious, homemade meal! I want to walk you through recipes and answer any questions you may have along the way. As a wife, mother of 6 kids, and business owner, there are a few things that I look for in recipes. I need a meal that I can get on the table in no more than an hour. I tend to stay right around the 30 minute mark when possible. I also need a meal that can easily serve 8 and not break the bank. I use easy to find, budget friendly, ingredients. I promise, you won’t need to run out and buy a bottle of expensive wine for a recipe that calls for 1/4 cup and never need it again. I can recommend a lot of substitutions for those recipes that call for something that you don’t have or don’t want to use.
I’m sure you caught that the first time, but I do have 6 kids. Three are in school and three are at home. Time management and scheduling are a big deal in our household. I won’t lie to you and tell you that things never get out of hand or go a little crazy. I have a few pointers and am always open to suggestions with ways to keep kids happy and on track! We are firm believers in chores and manners! I feel like the good, old-fashioned way of bringing up kids is a lost art. Being a polite, courteous, and caring person seems to be more rare by the day. I was brought up in church and my mom told my brother, sister and myself, “Treat people how you want to be treated” at least once a day. I will carry that message on through my kids!
The whole “blogging” thing is completely new to me. I’ve read more than my fair share, but I’ve never written one. This is a learning experience for me so if you notice any problems or have any feedback, feel free to let me know! Just like in everything else, my husband is my rock in this. He’s my “I.T. guy”, site designer, proof reader, photographer, idea board, you name it and that’s him! Aren’t I the lucky one?! I look forward to growing with y’all on this journey through cooking, baking, laughing and blogging! Stick with me through the process and I’ll stick with you. It’s going to be a blast and a wonderful learning experience that I know we can all enjoy!
