Ingredients
For the Salmon Patties:
- 2 5 oz. packages salmon (use 10 oz. in total)
- 1 tablespoon chopped onion (I use frozen)
- 2 tablespoons chopped bell peppers (I use frozen)
- 1/2 teaspoon Low Sodium Old Bay seasoning You can use the regular one if preferred
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
For the Tartar Sauce:
- 1 cup real mayo
- 1/3 cup relish (I use sweet, but you can use whichever you prefer)
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Low Sodium Old Bay seasoning Again, you can use the regular one if preferred
Instructions
Start by making the Tartar Sauce:
- In a medium sized bowl combine all of the Tartar Sauce ingredients and stir well.
- It will seem kind of thin, but put it into the fridge while you're preparing the Salmon Patties and it will thicken up.
Make the Salmon Patties:
- In a medium sized bowl add your two 5oz. pouches of salmon.
- Add the onion, bell peppers, eggs, and Old Bay seasoning. I do use frozen onions and peppers, but fresh works as well!
- Mix well.
- Add the breadcrumbs to the salmon mixture and mix well.
- I like to kind of pack it all together.
- Divide it into 4 pieces and let it set while a medium pan with oil heats up. I use about a 1/2-3/4 cup of oil in the bottom of the pan and heat it on medium. You can take a small pinch of the Salmon Patty mixture and drop it in the oil to see if the oil is ready. If it starts to bubble, then it's ready.
- Take each portion of the Salmon Patty mixture and shape it into a disk. I make them slightly smaller than the palm of my hand.
- After 5-7 minutes the bottom edges will start to look golden brown and look a bit different than the rest of the patty as pictured. When that happens, carefully flip them over.
- Cook for 5-7 more minutes. I like to set mine onto a paper towel as soon as I remove them from the pan just to grab some of that residual oil.
- Get your homemade Tartar Sauce and whatever sides you prefer and enjoy!
